Burglary reported in Jackson Twp.

A burglar stole a computer and jewelry between 12:40 and 3 p.m. Tuesday in the 1000 block of North County Road 250E, in Jackson Township. A bedroom and the kitchen were ransacked, and the phone was disabled, according to the police report. Police said it appears the burglar entered through the back door, which had a faulty lock.

Cigarette alerts of man entering

A man wearing a red plaid shirt and red stocking cap attempted to enter a home at about 2 p.m. Tuesday, but he left when he realized people were there, according to the police report. The residents of the house, in the 200 west of West County Road 700N in Liberty Township, told police they smelled cigarette smoke coming from a window before an unknown man ripped off its screen, mumbled something and left.

Customized high-end bicycles stolen

An unknown person pried open the door of a detached garage and stole two customized bicycles worth $1,500 each, police said. The theft happened between 5:30 a.m. Monday and 10 a.m. Tuesday on Cherrywood Lane in Porter Township.
