Dog growled at potential burglar
A growling dog may have thwarted a burglary at about 12:30 a.m. Wednesday at a home on Muirfield Drive in the Aberdeen subdivision, southwest of Valparaiso. The 41-year-old female resident told police her dog was disturbed by a noise outside and began growling. She did not investigate until morning, when muddy shoe prints were found on top of the exterior air conditioning unit and a screen removed from a window was found behind it, police said. The home was not entered and nothing was missing.
