Missing man found during drug bust
One man was arrested at about 12:30 a.m. Sunday and three others are expected to face charges after being found allegedly smoking marijuana in a car outside Inman’s Recreation Center, at 3201 Evans Ave. The driver, Zachary Crostreet, 23, of Wheatfield, was arrested for felony maintaining of a common nuisance and misdemeanor of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. A 24-year-old Whiting man, who had been reported as a missing person on Dec. 21, and two 23-year-old Wheatfield men also were in the car. Police released the three but requested warrants to arrest each for misdemeanor visiting a common nuisance.
Gun permit process to change in Feb.
The Valparaiso Police Department’s gun permit procedures are changing. Beginning Feb. 4, those wanting a permit will need to apply online instead of in person and make an appointment to be electronically fingerprinted at L1 Solutions within 30 days. To complete the process, applicants will need to show a fingerprint receipt from L1 when they pay the local fees at the police department.
