Two televisions and jewelry were stolen in a home burglary between 7:15 a.m. and 4 p.m. Wednesday at a home on County Road 600W north of Lake Eliza. The culprit got in by breaking the back door. Complaint leads
to drug arrests
A driver’s complaint of another vehicle “all over the roadway” resulted in two people arrested on drug charges.
When police stopped the silver Chevrolet Cobalt at about 6:35 p.m. Wednesday at Indiana 130 and County Road 250W, west of Valparaiso, driver Miranda Belcher, 21, of rural Porter County, said her poor driving was because she was having trouble charging her cell phone. Police reportedly found two small pieces of suspected heroin, 10 hypodermic needles and other drug paraphernalia in the car.
Belcher was arrested for possession of heroin and hypodermic needles and for maintaining a common nuisance, all felony charges. Her passenger, Cameron Burns, 21, of Valparaiso, was arrested for misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia and visiting a common nuisance.
Handgun stolen from vehicle
A 9 mm gun was reported stolen from an unlocked vehicle overnight Tuesday in the 100 block of Brockton Place, in Shorewood Forest. Neighbors of the victim said their vehicles had been entered overnight also.
