Forger gets 1-year sentence
A Chesterton man who was printing up counterfeit $20 bills on his computer in a Merrillville motel received a one-year prison sentence Friday.
Matthew Robert Milletary, 37, also will spend two years on probation for his guilty plea to Class C felony forgery and Class D felony theft.
The arrest came after his brother, Kevin Milletary, 34, of Chesterton was caught trying to pass the $20 bills at Burns Harbor fast-food restaurants on Oct. 16, 2011.
Police recalled a case from Oct. 6, 2011, where a man identified as Matthew Milletary tried to pass a counterfeit $20 in Luke Oil at U.S. 20 and Indiana 149.
Police raided the Merrillville motel after the younger brother told them about it. Matthew Milletary told police he was doing it to support a drug habit.
Milletary will also be turned over to Lake County for additional charges.
