Steven Durko, 37, of Crown Point, was arrested at about 3:10 a.m. Saturday on multiple charges after allegedly pushing a good friend through a plate glass window while “horsing around” in front of Boomers, at 2522 Portage Mall.
According to the police report, both men ultimately went through the window, damaging an arcade game with an attached flat screen TV and a neon sign that were on the other side of the glass. Both had been drinking in Boomers prior to the incident.
Police said Durko fought police, striking one officer in the jaw, and was tasered twice before he could be taken to the ground and put in handcuffs, after which he appeared unconscious and was treated at Porter Regional Hospital.
The other man, a 35-year-old Portage resident, had a bleeding head wound and was treated at the scene. The damages to the business were estimated at $7,100.
Durko was arrested on three felony counts: battery to law enforcement, criminal mischief and resisting law enforcement; and three misdemeanor charges: battery, disorderly conduct and public intoxication.
