Teen won’t clean room, cops called
A 13-year-old female was arrested for allegedly battering her 11-year-old brother and interfering with the reporting of the crime. The incident began at about 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, when the mother told the teen to clean her bedroom, she refused, and they started yelling and struggling.
When the mother picked up the phone and told the daughter she was calling police, the teen admitted she tried to take the phone away from her. She also told police she hit her brother in the back when he tried break up the fight.
The 13-year-old already had a Feb. 1 court date for a prior alleged battery.
Alleged batterer admitted assault
Sarah Branch, 22, was arrested for felony domestic battery in the presence of a child and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, at about 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at her home on Harmony Trail in Meadowview Mobile Home Park, north of South Haven. Branch and the victim, a 38-year-old male with visible injuries, both told police she hit him repeatedly during an argument, while he did not hit or push her.

House guest stole box of medications
A house guest reportedly stole an old safe deposit box full of prescription medication. The man, whom the victim said stayed for about a month but whom she knew only by first name, left at about 5:30 p.m. Monday, supposedly to pick up fast food, but did not return to the home in the 400 block of Pembroke Road. A large number of medications were stolen including anti-anxiety pills, two types of antidepressants and prescriptions to treat opiate addiction.
