VALPARAISO — Police caught two men with 63 packs of stolen cigarettes shortly after a burglary at the BP gas station at 1501 Calumet Ave.
Brandon Deardurff, 23, and Brian Suckey, 27, both of Valparaiso, were arrested for felony burglary, felony receiving stolen property and misdemeanor criminal mischief.
After an alarm went off at 12:11 a.m. Friday, police arrived to find a shattered glass door.
When the business owner arrived, he and police watched video surveillance showing two people break the door with a large rock and take cigarettes. The owner recognized one of the men as a customer and remembered his first name. Police found the suspect’s address and obtained a search warrant for the home in the 300 block of Northview.
Inside, officers found that suspect and another man, and a large number of cigarette packs, police said.
