Men rob ice cream parlor
Two men wearing ski masks robbed Cold Stone Creamery at 8:53 a.m. Thursday, getting away with an undetermined amount of cash, according to police.
The lone employee at the store, at 71 S. Silhavy Road, before it opened for the day described one of the men as 6 feet 2 inches and the other as 5 feet 9 inches tall. Both were wearing black coats and blue jeans, and one showed a handgun, police said
Suspended license leads to charges
A nonworking license plate light led police to stop Kimberly Hart, 38, of Gary, at about 1:15 a.m. Friday at County Line Road and Stone Avenue. She was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of driving with a suspended license and, since the passenger also was unlicensed, police impounded Hart’s vehicle. While conducting an inventory of its contents, police found five antidepressant pills in a morphine bottle and added a felony charge of possession of a legend drug. There were additional medications in the vehicle, but all were in their legally obtained, original prescription containers.
