Slingshot BB fired
at family’s window
At about 8:15 p.m. Thursday, a quarter-inch diameter metal BB, the type used with slingshots, broke the window of a home in the 700 block of Fremont Road, police said.
A family of four was at home. When they heard a popping sound and glass breaking, the mother and children ducked down and hid in a back room while the father ran outside, but did not see anyone.
A neighbor, who didn’t hear anything because he was operating machinery, told police he saw a red or maroon four-door car drive past slowly around the time of the incident. He said there were at least three passengers.
Police probe thefts from vehicles, garage
Items were discovered stolen Thursday from five vehicles and a garage, all likely left unlocked, in a Liberty Township residential neighborhood northeast of South Haven.
Some of the stolen property, plus an electric guitar that had not yet been reported missing, was recovered in the area, police said. Thefts from vehicles happened on Shakespeare, Mirmar, Covington and Stonegate drives.
In addition, about 200 pounds of copper wire was reported stolen from a detached garage on west County Road 900N.
Police arrest man
Christopher Bishop, 43, of Portage, was arrested for felony possession of a controlled substance after police found a single pill of a prescription narcotic between his seat and the center console of his vehicle.
Police pulled Bishop over for not having a valid license plate and ticketed him at about 6:25 p.m. Thursday, in the 5700 block of U.S. 20. Bishop had two other bottles of prescription medication on him, with the proper paperwork, but police said he repeatedly changed his story on how the hydrocodone got there.
