Center Twp. seeks applicants for spot on Valpo school board

VALPARAISO — The Center Township Board is accepting applications for its open slot for a four-year term on the Valparaiso Community School Board.
Candidates must be at least 18 years old; their primary residence must be within the physical boundaries of Center Township; they must complete and submit a formal application; and they may be selected for a public interview by the board.
Interested candidates may obtain an application at the Center Township Trustee’s Office, 100 Lincolnway, Suite 204, Valparaiso, during and after normal business hours; hard copies are available at the entry to the main office.
They can go to the township website, www.centertownshiptrustee.org; or request an application via email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The deadline for applications is no later than 11:30 a.m. Thursday, May 30. Late applications will not be considered.
The Center Township Board will meet in executive session at 9 a.m. Wednesday, June 5, at the trustee’s office, to select candidates for a public interview.
Candidates selected will be notified via the U.S. Postal Service to appear at a public hearing scheduled fro 7 p.m. Thursday, June 20, in the commissioners chambers at the Porter County Administration Center, 155 Indiana Ave.
The board will then vote and select the Center Township Board’s representative to school board.
The Valparaiso City Council selects the other four members of the school board.
