HEBRON — The Porter County Sheriff’s Department and the Porter County Coroner are investigating the partially decomposed body of a male discovered in Boone Township Monday evening.
Sgt. Larry LaFlower with the sheriff’s department said police received a 911 call at 5:11 p.m. from someone who found the body in a culvert or ditch at the junction of County Roads 500 West and 1000 South, southeast of Hebron. The area is farmland.
Other than gender, police have not been able to determine other identifying characteristics, such as age and race, because of the decomposition.
Police are treating the matter as a death investigation, LaFlower said. A forensic autopsy will be conducted to find the cause of death and identification of the male.
