Toll road BP worker robbed at knifepoint

PORTAGE ­— Police are searching for a man who robbed a BP station on the Indiana Toll Road early Thursday.

State police said the man escaped with about $600 and fled on foot through the local exit near Plaza Road.

Police said he may have fled in an unknown vehicle at about 3:30 a.m.

The employee suffered lacerations on the arm after the suspect came around the counter brandishing a knife.

Some evidence was recovered at the scene.

Police described the suspected as a 6-feet 2-inches tall black male, wearing a gray hoodie, dark jeans and black tennis shoes.

Portage police assisted, along with the a state police crime scene technician.
