VALPARAISO — Police are investigating five separate, already detonated explosive devices in residential neighborhoods.
The devices were located in the 1500 block of Boca Lago Dr.; the 2900 block of Prentiss Dr.; the 3600 block of Goodrich Rd.; and in the 1350 block of Jade Blvd., according to a press release from the Valparaiso Police Department.
The devices consisted of a plastic bottle filled with a common substance and household chemical that, when mixed together, are highly combustible.
Anyone who comes across a suspicious plastic bottle should not touch it, police said. The exceedingly warm temperatures may be causing the already unstable chemicals to heat up and detonate, making them dangerous and unpredictable.
Police are investigating and encourage anybody with information to call the Valparaiso Police Department at 462-2135 or text a tip to TIP411 (847-411) and enter the keyword “Valpo” in the message field prior to sending a message.
