Brick through window injures juveniles
Two juveniles received minor injuries when, at 2:34 a.m. Friday, an unknown person threw a brick through the window of a mobile home in the 100 block of Jamestown Avenue, east of Valparaiso.
The two girls told police they were watching TV in the front bedroom, with the curtains closed, when the small brick crashed through the window.
The brick struck one girl’s hand, and a shard of glass cut the other’s leg, police said.
Female suspect followed woman to start fight
Seeing another woman driving toward the home of her ex-boyfriend, with whom she said she is rekindling the relationship, an 18-year-old Hobart woman followed the 19-year-old South Haven woman’s vehicle at about 2:15 p.m. Thursday.
Both stopped outside the man’s home on Rushingwater Drive, east of Portage. The 18-year-old allegedly confronted the other woman, pushed her and punched her twice in the face before the 20-year-old man separated them.
The 18-year-old is expected to be charged with misdemeanor battery.
Drunken driver hid damaged Jeep
Steven Dzunda, 57, of rural Porter County, was arrested on misdemeanor charges of drunken driving and leaving the scene of a crash that happened at 5:52 p.m. Thursday at County Roads 50 north and 675 west, northwest of Lake Eliza. The other driver told police a tan 2000 Jeep Cherokee, which was making a turn, sideswiped his vehicle while he was stopped at the stop sign. He then saw Dzunda drive to his nearby home and put the Jeep in the garage, according to police.
Mo-ped reported stolen
A black and gray mo-ped, worth approximately $1,000, was reported stolen between 9 p.m. Wednesday and 4:30 p.m. Thursday from a front yard in the 700 block of Heritage Road.
