Newly washed wheelchair stolen
A 66-year-old woman’s wheelchair was reported stolen after a relative washed it and left it in the sun to dry. The black and chrome wheelchair, worth $300, was taken between 6 and 7 p.m. Tuesday from the front yard of a home in the 400 block of Plymouth Road.
Arrested for threat, suspect says he ‘didn’t mean it’
Kenneth Frank Jr., 31, of rural Porter County, was arrested at 9:30 p.m. Tuesday for felony intimidation for allegedly threatening a 26-year-old man dating Frank’s ex-girlfriend. The couple told police Frank arrived at the 20-year-old woman’s home, in the 100 block of Elmwood Park Drive, north of Valparaiso, beat on the door and threatened to stab the rural Chesterton man. He also reportedly sent a similar threat by text message. When police found Frank in the 1800 block of Vail Drive, he said he wanted the man to come outside to fight him, but he “didn’t mean it” when he threatened to stab him.
Man’s bruises answer he said/she said dispute
Angeline Risk, 45, of rural Chesterton, was arrested for allegedly battering a 57-year-old man at 10:44 p.m. Tuesday at a home in the 1400 block of Harrison Road, northeast of Chesterton. Although Risk said the man made the first move in escalating their verbal fight into a physical one, the victim and a witness told police Risk spit in the man’s face and hit him in the head with a bowl of cereal and a glass mug, while the man reportedly only pushed her to get away. He had bruises to his face, police said, while Risk was uninjured.
