A man has been charged with reckless homicide Monday in connection with the fatal shooting of his girlfriend’s toddler Sunday afternoon in a northwest Indiana mobile home park.
Zachariah L. Grisham, 24, shot 3-year-old Lance Wilson about 3:35 p.m. Sunday in the Terrace Acres Mobile Home Park in the 1100 block of West U.S. 20 near Michigan City, Ind., according to a statement from the LaPorte County Sheriff’s office.
The boy was pronounced dead on the scene, police said.
Grisham has been living with the boy’s mother at a trailer in the Terrace Acres park, police said.
He was charged Monday with one felony count each of reckless homicide and neglect of a dependent, police said. LaPorte Superior Court Judge Steven King ordered Grisham held on a $100,000 bond and he remains in custody at the LaPorte County Jail.
The sheriff’s office and Michigan City police investigated the incident.
