The federal health insurance marketplace Hoosiers are using lists a range of plans as well as sample rates based on several types of consumers: a single person age 27; a single person age 50; a couple at age 30 with two children; a single parent age 30 with two children; a couple age 40 with no children; and a child at any age.
Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield provides the largest range, with fifteen options.
Seven Bronze plans monthly premiums range from $202.46 to $240.12 for the 27-year-old; $683.90 to $811.08 for the young couple with children; $464.63 to $551.03 for the single parent; and $123.65 to $145.49 for a child.
Five Silver plans range from $252.63 to $274.18 for the 27-year-old; $853.34 to $926.14 the young couple with children; $579.74 to $629.20 for the single parent, and $153.07 to $166.13 for a child.
There are three Gold plans, with two carrying the same price tags. A multi-state plan and a plan that includes child dental care cost the same: $357.94 for the 27-year old; $1209.08 for the young couple with children, $821.42 for the single parent, and $216.88 for the child. The lower-cost Gold plan premiums costs $341.22 (27-year-old), $1152.58 (couple with children), $783.04 (single parent), and $206.75 (child).
Anthem provides a catastrophic plan at $172.76 per month.
MDwise offers one plan in each level. Bronze plans are listed at $232.55 for a 27-year-old, $785.52 for a family, $533.66 for a single parent, and $140.90 for a child.
The Silver option offered by MDwise are listed at $265.71 (27-year-old), $897.50 (couple with children), $609.74 (single parent), and $160.99 (child).
MDwise Gold plans cost $317.81 for the young single, $1073.50 for the family, $729.31 for a single parent, and $192.56 for the child.
Those living in LaPorte County can expect MDwise prices to be around five percent higher than in Lake and Porter counties.
LaPorte County residents also have the option to sign up with Physicans Health Plan.
That plan offers four Bronze options, ranging from $220.62 to $227.87 for the young single, $745.26 to $769.76 for the family, $506.30 to $522.95 for the single parent, and $133.67 to $138.07 for a child.
PHP has two Silver plans, at $278.19 or $281.70 for the 27-year-old, $939.74 or $951.58 for the family, 638.43 or $646.47 for the single parent, and $168.56 or $170.68 for a child.
And it offers one Gold plan, with premiums at $375.03 (27-year-old), $1266.84 (couple with children), $860.65 (single parent), and $227.23 (child).
A catastrophic plan is listed at $187.57.
Brunnemer said PHP is not licensed to sell insurance in Lake and Porter counties.
Representatives from Anthem and MDwise were unable to respond to requests to comment on the plans they are offering.
