of death threats
A 40-year-old rural Valparaiso man allegedly threatened to kill three people after he was arrested for battering them about 9:20 a.m. Thursday.
The attack reportedly happened at the home he shared with the victims, in the 900 block of North Meridian Road, when his girlfriend questioned him about a dating website on their computer.
Shawn Johnson, 40, allegedly punched her in the face. He then allegedly attacked the woman’s 65-year-old father.
Johnson was taken to Porter County Jail where told the arresting officer he planned on “murdering them when he was released from jail,” according to police.
Johnson has a diagnosis of paranoid schizophrenia, police said, and it appeared he had just set up a marijuana-growing operation.
He was charged with felony intimidation, one count of felony domestic battery in the presence of a child, one count of misdemeanor domestic battery, and two misdemeanor counts of battery.
Woman accused of peeping
Sandra Carlson, 58, of Michigan City, was arrested at 2:04 p.m. Thursday for felony trespassing. She is accused of looking into the windows of a home to, as she put it, “see Mick Jagger,” according to the police report.
The resident of the home, in the 400 block of East County Road 1174N, east of Chesterton, had complained to police about Carlson’s presence there on Monday and Wednesday as well. On Wednesday, police had issued her a trespass warning. The woman has a prior conviction of trespassing at the same property.
