Man forces chase after pull-over
A 29-year-old Portage man who ran from a traffic stop ultimately was arrested after police shocked him with a Taser. Police said Kristopher Edmonds, 29, nearly struck a squad car and another vehicle because he was driving too fast during icy conditions to heed a stop sign at McCool Road and North County Road 700. The patrol officer intended to write Edmonds a ticket for disregarding a stop sign and expired license plates, according to the police report, but Edmonds ran. Officers followed his footprints in the snow and captured him about eight or nine minutes later, in the 300 block of McCool Road. He was arrested for fleeing law enforcement.
