Quickly’s Neighbors, Jan. 26

Updated: February 27, 2012 8:48AM

There are some wonderful neighbors in Valparaiso. I have one across the street from me and without being asked he snowblows my driveway to where I park my car. He’s such a lifesaver and I appreciate it so much.

I think it is time for a security guard at the Valparaiso Public Library.

I think Portage needs
to enforce
its “no parking on city streets when you have 2 or more inches of snow” law, and that any resident that pushes, plows or shovels their snow into a plowed street should be fined.

Crown Point homeowners, it’s your responsibility to shovel your sidewalks. Especially houses on corners, if they shovel at all, it’s only one side of their corner. What’s up with that, just one side? Part of homeownership is keeping the sidewalk clear for pedestrians.

Portage doesn’t have a downtown like Valparaiso for a good reason. It only became a town in 1959, and a city around 1967. Since it was a combination of several smaller communities brought together, it would not have a downtown, certainly not one as old as Valparaiso or other older cities that came into being before automobiles allowed everything to be spread out.

If Pat Boone did halftime at the Super Bowl, the lines at the restrooms would double.

A big thanks to our Gary Police Department for its help in cleaning the streets after the snow this weekend. Great job, guys.
