Quickly’s Neighbors, Jan. 31

Updated: March 1, 2012 8:44AM

To the person complaining about Ridge Road in Portage. You must be from Lake County, because there is no Ridge Road in Porter County. It happens to be U.S. 6.

I wish the new mayor of Gary would bring back the Lakefront Festival in July. Also I would like the new mayor to put the city garbage workers back to work and do away with the contracted workers.

To the person who thinks Portage should replace damaged driveways because of plows going by: The only things that can get damaged are the aprons that connect the driveways to the street and those are illegal anyway, so repair it yourself.

Wow, since they fixed the tracks on Third and Wisconsin streets they are awful. It sounds like my tires are going to fall off just going across them. How about coming back and fixing them the right way?

I know it’s difficult for some politicians to grasp concepts like “don’t hire your relatives,” “be honest,” and “be fair,” but do the taxpayers of Lake County (Munster, Highland, Schererville, Whiting and Crown Point) really have to pay $5,000 up front plus $1,500 per year thereafter to have their public officials taught right from wrong? Does anyone else realize what a joke this is?
