It was 68 years ago, June 6, 1944, when our U.S. troops joined the Allied forces for the invasion of Normandy. This nation prayed and held its collective breath. This was truly the turning point of WWII. Yet, there wasn’t a mention in any media about this tumultuous event.

OK, the Lake County Commissioners have removed Tramel Raggs as their representative on the Airport Authority Board and appointed Roosevelt Allen Jr. to replace him. Now if they could just get their own coffee, they wouldn’t need Tramel at all and they could save taxpayers lots of money.

Since I haven’t been a union member since the late ’60s, I have a question for current members: Do you have a say in how your dues are used in political contributions or do the union leaders give your money to whoever they want?

Parents, watch your kids! They run into the street without looking and drive their motorized Barbie Jeep into other cars. As young as they are, there is no reason to leave them unattended.

Where did this Peter McKay come from? He is hilarious!

If you ever wonder where our tax money goes try visiting a paper recycle bin at one of our local schools. I found notebooks tossed with only a couple of pages written in. I went Dumpster diving and salvaged a few. Our schools may be wasteful, I don’t intend to be.

Thank you, Denny’s restaurant on U.S. 30. The manager, patrons and waitresses made sure I was going to be all right. Bless you for your kindness. I cannot thank you enough.
