I wonder why, when adult women have conversations with others who are close friends, they refer to someone else as a best friend? That kind of makes me wonder, “What am I?”

Here we go again. The politicians are mustering their bandwagon to support a Lake County income tax of 1.5 percent. What next? Maybe they will try to outdo Jasper County, where they pay almost as much in county income taxes as they pay in state taxes.

What people need to think about in this election is not who wins the presidency. If the opposing party controls either the House or the Senate, then nothing will get done for the next four years. The big corporations and banks control what happens in America now, so the president is irrelevant.

I’m a nonsmoker, but I’m sick and tired of people complaining about that little bit of smoke from others’ cars. Tell them to complain about the air they breathe, the food they eat — so many other things. I’ve lived many years with smoke. God willing, I’ll live longer.
