Councilman Richard Hardaway of Merrillville has it right regarding 53rd Avenue — a fatality waiting to happen, especially to speeders.
I can’t think of a thing Gary could use $28 million of taxpayer money for, other than to rehab a park in the city. Congratulations to the Regional Development Authority for paying for a project that is sure to turn around Gary’s financial woes.
The Gary/Chicago International Airport does not need five members appointed by the governor. The state is just trying to take control of the airport and give Northwest Indiana the shaft, like former Gov. Mitch Daniels did with the Indiana Toll Road.
I agree with North Township Trustee Frank Mrvan that all illegal aliens in Indiana should be required to have a driver’s license for safety reasons. They should be required to take a driver’s education course, and it should be free. To further promote safety, why aren’t all road signs in English and Spanish?
My family attended that huge barbecue in Crown Point on Saturday in honor of National Gun Day. I can’t believe how many people were there, and the food was great.
