Due to sequestration, the air traffic control tower at the Gary/Chicago International Airport is slated to be closed at a savings of $500,000 per year. The airport director says this will have no effect on airport safety. He states there may be some loss of efficiency and some delays. So we were paying $500,000 a year so the airport can be a little more efficient? No wonder the government is going broke and has to borrow money.

The kids today are so out of hand they have no respect for their parents, no respect for school teachers, no respect for policemen — no respect for anybody. What a shame to think that things have changed so badly.

Awhile back I noted that the Chesterton Town Council has a “town manager” to do work they were elected to do. Now, I see the Porter County Council is going to add a new full-time administrative position just to review and advise them on county department budgets, a job they too were elected to do themselves. Just wondering if all these politicians are going to cut their salaries during these difficult times now that their workloads have been reduced!
