Congratulations to the Carmelite Home on its 100-year anniversary. What an amazing place run by the most selfless staff.

Let me get this straight: al Qaida is fighting to oust the Syrian president and Obama is supplying weapons to insurgents who are also fighting to oust the Syrian president. Does this make us allies of al-Qaida?

Pulling over to the side of the road for a funeral procession is a sign of respect for the deceased. It will be done for you someday. My sister recently passed away, and oncoming traffic pulled over for her. I felt a lump in my throat and a sense of gratitude to those showing her such respect. I, in turn, also respect the deceased when I come upon a funeral procession as I drive.

I can remember when a “mixed marriage”

was a marriage between an Italian and an Irishman — haven’t learned a lot since then!

Newsflash? There may be no “rules” regarding pulling over in the presence of a funeral procession, but it’s a sign of respect.

Where will sanctimonious people direct their attitude now? Gay marriage or Planned Parenthood?

While it is impossible to stop all criminals from having access to firearms, good gun laws can make it harder for criminals to get armed while preserving your Second Amendment rights. Unfortunately this may trim the profit margins of the NRA’s financial backers. Wake up, right wingers! P.S.: What “well regulated militia” are you a member of?

Did you ever do something on your “Bucket List” and live to regret it?
