Cedar Lake is not protecting all areas of town equally
Why is an 8-foot chain-link fence with barbed wire illegal in every state, yet the town of Cedar Lake can erect such a fence in my backyard?
“Homeland security;” they say they are protecting my Robins Nest subdivision, plus 275 students from a nearby school, from terrorists who want to contaminate our water supply.
Very noble, you say?
Why is there no such fence around the watershed in Havenwood subdivision, also in Cedar Lake? Are the east side residents of more importance than those on the north side? I think I smell discrimination.
Ian Nicolini, town administrator, I think you should treat all Cedar Lake residents equally.
If Robins Nest residents deserve barbed wire, so do the residents of Havenwood. We all deserve “homeland security” standards of protection.

Romney is not one of us, doesn’t understand us
Mitt Romney stopped on his way to the airport in Des Moines, Iowa, to talk to a farmer about the drought. Probably the same farmer who, if seated near him in an upscale restaurant, would cause him to request “more amicable seating.”
Would Romney have spoken to this farmer if the cameras weren’t running?
He compared California’s economy to debt-ridden Greece, he declared that the British weren’t prepared for the Olympics, and, under the right circumstances, he’d probably bad-mouth the pope.
I want our president to understand our daily plights. Romney is so detached, he’s not even welcome to ask me about my garden. Order your veggies from the Swiss; I’m sure your banks will “comp” them.
“Barry” Obama isn’t perfect, but he’s a good man. Your eyes are the windows of your soul. Look closely in these men’s eyes before you vote.

Romney will make us ‘last great failure of democracy’
I sure hope Republicans Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan win the White House in November.
That way, when they kill all the social programs that plague this country — like Social Security, Medicare, Head Start, etc. — we can have a generation or two of stupid people living on the streets with no hope of ever getting anywhere, getting anything or even living.
Then, we will fulfill our destiny as the last great failure of democracy.
Once democracy is gone, the people here can recall how life was in the old days of the monarchy and how the czars treated people in The Rodina before the Bolsheviks rose to power.
In the new order of things, there will be the greedy, rich bureaucrats and all the rest of us scrambling for scraps.
I can’t wait, because it is going to be cool.
