IRS actions should concern and frighten everyone
I happened to catch some of the testimony given to Congress concerning the IRS targeting Tea Party members and other conservative groups who wanted tax exempt status. I have never been so afraid of our government. That such a scary and powerful agency like the IRS can be used as a weapon by a political party should frighten every American. Remember the IRS can cause a person unbelievable problems and even put you in jail! The left-leaning press and many Democratic leaders in Washington have successfully labeled Tea Party members and other conservatives as total wackos that should be shunned. I am more sure than ever that Tea Party people are the most normal of American citizens who just happen to care about the constitution and are afraid of the ever growing government.
Big governments throughout history always mean decreased liberty for its citizens. I also agree with the views of those who say the IRS was acting this way due to a culture of “attack your political enemies with whatever it takes to win” mentality. People forget all this was happening around a presidential election. Many donations that could have gone to the Republican cause were stymied by the IRS. Add this with the lies about Mitt Romney never paying taxes and he must be evil because he is successful makes his loss all the more devious. I just hope left-leaning Americans can have the clear thinking and forethought to put the shoe on the other foot. What if it was a Republican administration in office and the IRS was shutting down left-leaning causes or causing trouble for the huge donations to Democrats by unions. I think if that were the case we would be hearing a lot more about it in the media and hearing the word impeachment screamed from the hilltops.

Gary mayor should not give up airport for Republicans
Please Gary Mayor Karen Freeman-Wilson, don’t give away our airport to the Republicans. They do not give a damn about Gary or its people. They want to take over our airport, but never tried to help get it going. It if wasn’t for Chicago Mayor Richard Daley, Gary would have lost the airport. Now they see the airport will be worth more, and hire more people, than anything they have. Please do not let the governor have any appointee on the board, and don’t give him veto power. I know you are smarter than that, at least I hope you are. Charlie Brown seems to be the only one who knows what the governor and the Republicans are trying to do.
Maybe the people of Gary voted for the wrong person. One who wants to give our airport to a bunch of Tea Party racists. The Republican governors have never cared about Northwest Indiana, especially Gary. And what the mayor said about Charlie Brown representing his constituents — that’s what he is supposed to do. We are your constituents. Do you represent us or the governor?
