Tell Gary officials you want to fish

Gary has most of Lake County’s entire Lake Michigan shoreline.

Guess how many sites in Gary are open to Gary and Lake County residents who want to access the sport fishery from shore? Zero. None. You can get to the fish by boat, but not from the shoreline.

There are sites that can be opened up if Mayor Karen Freeman-Wilson or the Gary City Council decides to do so.

You can help them make this decision. Every time you meet the mayor or anyone on the City Council, shake their hand and say, “Let’s go fishing!”

This will tell them, short and sweet, that you support the city giving access to its citizens to the Lake Michigan sport fishery from the shoreline.

Please share this with your friends and family and your social media.

Let’s go fishing!
