Keep your religion out of marriage
(Pastor Joseph R. Schlawin’s letter on same-sex marriage, published Feb. 28, which was his commentary on a recent Fred Niedner column, elicited this response.)
Dear Pastor Schlawin:
Your letter regarding gay marriage was ludicrous in every respect. God is Love. God is not the Great Score Keeper in the sky. Death is not punishment for sin. It is as much a part of life as birth.
Homosexuality is not a “sin” and no one is trying to “cover it up in marriage” — when did God start marriage? What date? Exactly who are you to decide how God’s love or law is to be defined? I believe it was Martin Luther that said “faith alone will save”. Look it up.
Your analogy of the drunk and AA was ridiculous. What are you trying to say?
“Marriage is a legal contract between spouses that establishes rights and obligations between them.”
Fred Niedner’s column was perfect.
