Sanderson sets KV tennis record

Right away Luke Sanderson made an impact on the Kankakee Valley Boys tennis team, starting in his freshman year.

Since that time, he’s dropped just one local bout, earned a spot on the first team all-state list, made a trip to the individual state tournament and most recently broke the Kougars’ record of 56 wins.

Interesting about the senior’s feat is that it comes in just a little more than two seasons of play. Sanderson (57-2) opted to sit out of IHSAA action last season to improve his college recruitment chances by focusing solely on a USTA schedule.

P-T Top 5

1. Munster

2. Crown Point

3. Valparaiso

4. Lake Central

5. LaPorte

Players of the Week

Carson Hoogewerf and Dominic
Peretin,
Crown Point

It wasn’t a surprise that CP’s regular season No. 1 doubles tandem teamed up for a big finish at Saturday’s Highland Doubles Tourney (winning 6-2, 6-2 in the final). However, they did help the Bulldogs raise a few eyes by not dropping a set on any court.
