Andrean to host baseball clinic

Baseball will be in full swing at Andrean High School as the 59ers host a six-week camp in conjunction with U.S. Baseball Academy, starting Jan. 22.
Registration is open for interested players in grades 1 to 12. Andrean head baseball coach Dave Pishkur will direct the program, which focuses on advanced hitting, pitching, catching, fielding and baserunning. Classes are limited to six players per instructor. CP Legion seeks players: Crown Point American Legion Post 20 is seeking to fill two baseball rosters for this summer. Both their senior and junior teams are looking for position players and pitchers.
To qualify for the senior team, players must be at the high school varsity or college levels and have been born in 1993, 1994, or 1995. High school varsity players born in 1995, 1996, or 1997 may inquire about the junior team.

12U travel team filling roster: The South Shore Steelheads 12U elite travel baseball team is looking for two players to complete their roster for the 2012 spring/summer season. Players must be 12 or younger by May 1, 2012 to be eligible. Travel experience is preferred.

Douglas Center offers winter activities: Should Northwest Indiana receive significant snowfall, the Miller Woods Trail at the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore’s Paul H. Douglas Center for Environmental Education will be open for exploration on Saturdays this winter.
Regardless of the precipitation, the Douglas Center will be open from 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturdays to offer visitors the opportunity to check out free interactive exhibits, videos, and a live animal room. The venue is located on North Lake Street in the Miller section of Gary, one mile north of U.S. Hwy. 12.

Portage Wrestling Club sign-ups: The Portage Wrestling Club will host sign-ups from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday in the Portage High School wrestling room. The cost for this session is $120, which includes an USA Wrestling Card that will allow kids to compete at tournaments.
