Cops talk to Castro about alleged assault

Chicago Cubs All-Star shortstop Starlin Castro was questioned by Chicago police for seven hours Thursday night and into Friday morning over allegations of sexual assault, a source familiar with the situation told ESPNChicago.com’s Bruce Levine.
A woman accused Castro, 21, of sexual assault last fall, but no charges have been filed and Castro’s representatives deny the allegation.
Purdue QB Marve granted sixth year: Purdue says that the NCAA has awarded Purdue quarterback Robert Marve a sixth year of eligibility, and he will play for the Boilermakers in 2012. Marve missed all of the 2007 season, his true freshman year at Miami. He eventually transferred to Purdue and played just four games in 2010 after tearing the anterior cruciate ligament in this left knee in the second quarter of a 31-20 loss to Toledo on Sept. 25.

Giants righty Lincecum heads 142 in arbitration: San Francisco Giants ace Tim Lincecum headed 142 players filing for arbitration and is set to ask for a record salary when figures are exchanged next week. The highest figure ever asked for in arbitration is $22 million, submitted by Houston pitcher Roger Clemens in 2005 after he became a free agent and accepted arbitration.
