Stay healthy. Last year, the No. 1 returning scorer for the Irish, Tim Abromaitis, went down with an ACL tear a couple games into the season. His injury set ND back in the chemistry department early.
Jerian Grant. There is no limit for how good the 6-5 slasher/shooter/off guard can be for the Irish but if he improves at all, which he should, ND is already better. A big time player with a big time future.
Play eight. Ok, well maybe this is a fairy tale but Brey likes to play just seven or seven-in-a-half. He’s about offensive efficiency and rhythm. The Irish have the depth to go deeper. Might help down the stretch.
The big men. Between Jack Cooley, Zach Auguste and Garrick Sherman (even throw in Austin Burgett), Notre Dame has more size and shot blocking capabilities than they’ve had in a while.
Defense. The Irish have been solid defensively the last few years –something they weren’t always in the first decade under Brey. They need to keep the defensive intensity in place this season.
