Loyola (5-9, 0-1)
at Valparaiso (6-8, 1-0)

The Skinny: Junior Tabitha Gerardot earned her second Horizon League Player of the Week honor of the season after recording 26 points and 17 rebounds in the team’s conference-opening win over Youngstown State on Saturday. The double-double was her third of the season and the 16th of her career. Gerardot scored 15 of her points in the second half, including nine in a row during an 11-0 run that gave Valparaiso the lead for good.

The Crusaders are looking to improve their home mark to 6-1 tonight against the Ramblers. Valparaiso split the season series with Loyola last year, winning 69-46 at home in mid-February. The Crusaders would like to complete a 4-0 homestand. A win would also give the team its first 2-0 start in conference since wins over Butler and UIC in the 2007-08 season.

The key to victory will be shutting down Loyola standouts Simone Law (13.6 ppg, 9.3 rpg) and Monica Albano (13.7 ppg, 1.9 rpg). Law was held to just 12 points in the last contest. The Ramblers are avaraging 65 points a contest, while giving up 67 points per game. They are also averaging 37 rebounds and 10 steals per contest.
