GREEN BAY (14-2, 4-0)
AT VALPO (7-10, 2-2)
When: 1:35 p.m. today
The Skinny: The Crusaders went on a 25-3 run in the second half to pick up an 84-72 win over Milwaukee on Thursday night. Junior Tabitha Gerardot recorded her fifth double-double of the season, scoring a career-high 33 points and pulling down 10 rebounds in the Horizon League victory. Shaquira Scott recorded a career-high 22 points, while Charae Richardson tallied 14 points in the win for Valparaiso.
It will take a big effort from the same three and then some if the Crusaders hope to take down the Phoenix on Saturday afternoon. The defending Horizon League champs are coming off a 59-41 win over Youngstown State and are 25-4 all-time against the Crusaders in the series. Three Phoenix players are averaging double digits, led by Adrian Ritchie (14.3 ppg). Sarah Eichler (12.7 ppg) and Stephanie Sension (10.9 ppg, 4.9 rpg) are also dangerous with a basketball as is Lydia Bauer, who is coming off a 15-point performance against Youngstown.
Valparaiso is playing strong at home this year, winning five of its seven contest at the Athletics Recreation Center. One more win at home would tie last year’s win total. A win would put the Crusaders right back in the race for the conference title.
