Valpo (8-12, 3-4) AT DETROIT (12-8, 5-3)
When: 1 p.m. today

The Skinny: Senior Gina Lange knocked down a layup with 0.6 seconds left to force overtime and Valparaiso outscored Cleveland State 17-9 in the extra frame to notch a thrilling victiory earlier this week. Junior Tabitha Gerardot also had another record-setting night, pulling down a career-best 19 rebounds and tallying 32 points for her seventh double-double of the season.
A win over Detroit on Saturday would pull the Crusaders back to .500 in the conference with the second half of the Horizon League season just around the corner. Valparaiso is 5-10 all-time against Detroit after losing both contests last season. The Crusaders gave the Titans quite a battle in their 48-42 loss at home last season but struggled in their 68-52 loss at Calihan Hall. Valparaiso is hoping to end a three-game losing streak to Detroit.
Doing that would mean stopping leading scorer Shareta Brown, who is leading the conference with 22.3 points per contest; she’s also grabbing 9.5 boards a night. Teammates Demeisha Fambro (11.2 ppg.) and Yar Shayok (9.1 rpg.) are just as dangerous and will need to be shut down for the Crusaders to be successful.
