The Skinny: Tabitha Gerardot knocked down a 3-pointer with 8.1 seconds left in regulation to force OT but the Raiders had too much in overtime as they went on for the 83-78 victory Thursday. Gerardot played one of her best games of the year, recording 33 points and 18 rebounds in the losing effort. Senior Gina Lange added 14 points and 10 rebounds as she recorded her first double-double of the season.
Cleveland State is also entering this afternoon’s game after a loss. The Vikings dropped their contest to Loyola 72-67 on Monday, recording their fourth straight loss. Shalonda Winston was her usual phenomenal self, tallying 18 points and 10 rebounds. She leads the Horizon League, averaging 22.4 ppg. Cori Coleman had 17 points in defeat, while Kiersten Green had 12. Coleman and Green also average double figures per game.
One of the things VU does really well is distribute the basketball to the tune of 13.9 assists per game. Laura Richards leads the way with 3.7 apg, while Charae Richardson tallies 3.5 a contest. Against Wright Stae, the Crusaders had 20 assists on 27 baskets. Richardson recorded a career-high eight on Thursday, while Richards added five.
