VALPO (2-12, 0-1) AT OAKLAND (6-9, 1-1)
When: 6 p.m. Wednesday
The skinny: A rivalry is renewed as Oakland faces Valparaiso for the first time since the two schools were part of the Mid-Continental Conference in 2007. Oakland leads the all-time series, 13-9. It’s a homecoming of sorts for fifth-year senior Elizabeth Hamlet, who received her bachelor’s degree last year. Hamlet came to VU to earn her graduate degree, which allowed her to play for the Crusaders without sitting out like her sister, Annemarie. The Crusaders have had some success at the Athletics Center O’Rena, winning three of their past four contests in Rochester, Mich. VU is hoping to end its five-game losing streak against the Golden Grizzlies and win a conference road opener for the first time since the 2007-08 season. The Crusaders are 1-6 on the road this season. Olivia Nash leads Oakland with 12.8 points per game. Teammate Bethany Watterworth leads the league with a .519 shooting percentage (56-for-108).
