CLASS 2A

Merrillville Regional

Schedule: Thursday — Munster (13-4-1) vs. Valparaiso (16-2), 5 p.m., Crown Point (14-1-4) vs. Lake Central (7-12), 7 p.m.; Saturday — Final at 11 a.m.

Skinny: Crown Point last season won its first regional title on its way to the state title. The Bulldogs beat Lake Central, the 2010 state champ, 3-0 back on Aug. 15. Valparaiso topped Munster 2-0 on Sept. 29. It’s the same four teams as last season’s regional, with the same matchups; the Mustangs defeated the Vikings in penalty kicks, and CP won a pair of 2-1 decisions.

CLASS A

LaVille Regional

Schedule: Thursday — Boone Grove (13-4) vs. Marquette (15-3), 5 p.m., Wheeler (8-9-1) vs. Bethany Christian (15-5), 7 p.m.; Saturday — Final at 6 p.m.

Skinny: Bethany Christian is the defending regional champion. Boone Grove and Wheeler each is making its second straight appearance, with each losing in last season’s semifinals. Marquette stunned Andrean in penalty kicks for its first sectional title since 2006. The Blazers edged the fellow NWISC member Wolves 1-0 on Sept. 27.
