P-t boys top 10
1. Munster
The Mustangs’ first semi-big test comes against East Chicago. They dropped Hammond by 28 and Morton by 17 last week.
2. Andrean
The 59ers get upgraded a spot after and impressive come-from-behind victory over Bowman.
3. Lake Central
Similarly, the Indians drop a spot for their generally lackluster play. LC coach Dave Milausnic was not happy after a win over Valparaiso last week.
4. Merrillville
The Pirates stay right where they were after beating Chesterton at home. This very well could be the best team in the region.
5. Bowman
The young, coltish Eagles will improve once they learn how to make free throws and play with poise in the closing minutes. Still a very excellent team.
6. Valparaiso
No shame in losing to Lake Central on its floor. The Vikings were disappointed they couldn’t win a game they were in for most of the night.
7. Crown Point
The Bulldogs eked out a win over LaPorte. They have the kind of size and physicality that could give Lake Central problems.
8. Chesterton
Still can’t tell: Are Trojans a good team waiting to happen or a young team a year away? Give them the benefit of the doubt.
9. Marquette
The Blazers are 3-1. They are the best 1A team in Northwest Indiana.
10. Portage
Why not the Indians? After winning just one game last year, they are 3-0. The Vikings will likely burst their bubble but they deserve some credit.
Player of the Week
Peter Psomadelis, Portage
Psomadelis hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer to give the Indians a 47-46 victory over Michigan City last week. First win the DAC in two seasons for Portage.
