Girls basketball: P-T Top 10, player of the week

P-T GIRLS top 10

1. Michigan City

Just four more days until the game many region girls hoops fans have been waiting for — MC at Merrillville.

2. Merrillville

Moving the Pirates up means Tuesday’s matchup will officially be No. 1 in the area vs. No. 2. Maybe it’s fixed.

3. Lowell

The Red Devils have a couple NCC road games before holiday tournaments at Carroll and Warsaw.

4. Whiting

How much better are the Oilers than their opponents? They are second in the state with only 23.9 ppg against.

5. LaPorte

The Slicers could spoil that No. 1 vs. No. 2 matchup by upsetting Merrillville on Friday night on the road.

6. West Side

The Cougars drop a few spots after a loss to South Bend Washington, which they really should have won.

7. Portage

The Indians’ next big test comes on Tuesday when they travel to LaPorte for a big DAC matchup.

8. Hobart

The Brickies bounced back from back-to-back losses with an impressive NCC victory over Munster.

9. Bishop Noll

A five-game winning streak has the Warriors moving into the top 10, but tougher games are upcoming.

10. Kankakee Valley

If the Kougars want to stay in the NCC race, they must win Friday night when Hobart comes to town.

Player of the week

Lexus Fox, West Side

The sophomore guard did everything she could to keep the Cougars in a 76-74 loss to SB Washington on Saturday with 25 points, including 16 in the second half.
