Girls basketball: Post-Tribune top 10 and player of the week

P-T GIRLS top 10

1. Merrillville

Winning is never boring, especially if you’re a Merrillville fan; 32 straight regular season wins and counting.

2. Michigan City

The Wolves could get back in the state top 10 by winning the SB Washington tourney this week.

3. Lowell

The Red Devils sounded ready for the Warsaw Tournament this week and remaining undefeated.

4. Whiting

It was a close one on Saturday, but the Oilers survived Boone Grove. Next up is the Hanover Tournament.

5. West Side

Is there any doubt that the Cougars win the contracted Gary Holiday Tournament, based on the provided schedule?

6. Bishop Noll

Make that 10 straight wins for the Warriors before a two-week hiatus between games (next game is on Jan. 4).

7. Hobart

This week’s Northridge Tournament should toughen up the Brickies in their quest to win another NCC title.

8. Griffith

That possible second-round matchup in the Hanover Tournament against Whiting is very appealing.

9. LaPorte

The Slicers end 10 days off with a home game against Chesterton on Friday night before another eight days off.

10. Portage

The Indians are also part of this week’s Northridge Tournament with Hobart and Andrean.

Player of the week

Citlali Lopez, Whiting

She was clutch in the Oilers’ overtime victory over Boone Grove as she hit three 3-pointers and 13 of 15 from the free-throw line.
