P-T GIRLS top 10
1. Merrillville
“Can someone beat those Pirates?” someone asked the other day. Not for the last 37 regular season games.
2. Michigan City
The Wolves seem to be back on the winning track with two straight. Their rematch with Merrillville is next week.
3. West Side
A loss to Elkhart Memorial drops the Cougars one spot, but they’ll still be a handful in the postseason.
4. Bishop Noll
The Warriors won their first GSSC girls round-robin title. The next goal is the GSSC tournament title.
5. Lowell
The Red Devils remain in the top 5, but it’s precarious with some questionable play recently.
6. Lake Central
A big move up the poll for the Indians, but the tough schedule and big wins recently have opened up some eyes.
7. Kankakee Valley
The Kougars should finish the season strong and be a handful in the Class 3A postseason bracket.
8. Hobart
The Brickies couldn’t handle the Red Devils, so now the goal changes to winning a sectional.
9. Whiting
The Oilers drop after a loss to Noll, but they could move back up by winning GSSC tourney this week.
10. Boone Grove
The Wolves regain the Kup and move back into the top 10 after a recent run of good play.
Player of the week
Jayla Crump, Kouts
The sophomore matched her jersey number with 31 points in the Fillies’ first-round victory over Hebron in the PCC Tournament on Tuesday.
