P-T GIRLS top 10
1. Merrillville
Assuming the Pirates won Thursday night, it’s another outright Duneland Conference title.
2. Michigan City
The Wolves succeeded in spoiling Merrillville’s perfect season, but can they win another sectional?
3. West Side
Not a good draw for the Cougars, who face battle-tested Lake Central right off the bat.
4. Bishop Noll
The Warriors have a good shot at a long postseason run, as long as they can beat Whiting a third time.
5. Lowell
That’s two straight NCC titles for the Red Devils, but can they manage to win a sectional title?
6. Lake Central
LC coach Marc Urban is worried about West Side, but the feeling is likely mutual from the Cougars.
7. Kankakee Valley
The Kougars have a pretty good shot at winning their first sectional title since 2005.
8. Boone Grove
Free-throw shooting be darned, the Wolves keep winning games and keeping the PCC Kup.
9. Whiting
You know what they say: It’s hard to beat a team three times in a season, and Whiting hopes that’s true for Noll.
10. Hobart
At least the Brickies got a nice draw for the first round in the toughest sectional in the region.
Player of the week
Dariyan Morris,
Merrillville
She had 29 points and 12 rebounds in Merrillville’s first loss of the season on Friday at Michigan City.
