* — Sectional champion
Outlook: The Lake Central boys could carry a little luck a long way after not finishing in the top two in the WestLake Sectional, but earning the wildcard by finishing 10 pins behind second place. If the deep Indians regroup in the regional, a long postseason run could follow. Hobart and Highland also have deep teams, while Chesterton still has four 200 averages in the lineup despite the untimely transfer of its second-high average last week. Look for Crown Point and Lowell to challenge for the fifth spot. On the girls side, Portage had no problem advancing, but got a little lucky to win a trophy after surviving a tough match against Chesterton. Lake Central, Highland and Boone Grove are solid, while the rest of the field will be battling for that fifth advancing spot, as well as a possible wildcard.
Next: Top 5 boys teams, plus wildcard (sixth-place team closest to fifth at all regionals), top 5 girls teams, plus wildcard, top 14 boys and girls advance to semistate on Feb. 9 at Chippewa Bowl in South Bend
