Outlook: The state meet will include a strong core of sophomores and juniors looking to make a name for themselves and their programs, and some seasoned veterans vying to continue a strong track record. Mainstays such as Julia Campbell of Chesterton, up-and-comers such as fellow Trojan Vanessa Krause and Crown Point’s Aly Tetzloff, and a list of other region swimmers will take on the field. And top-notch divers Charlie Wayne of Crown Point and Valparaiso’s Khalela El-Naggar will be fighting for top-8. As far as team competition goes, the parity amongst the top-tier programs returns. Deep clubs Chesterton (a consistent top-5 threat), Munster and Lake Central are all looking to move up the ladder in a race that includes perennial powerhouses Carmel and Penn. Historically, Northwest Indiana has had a powerful impact with multiple individual wins and 2013 looks to be the same.
