Updated: March 14, 2013 6:47AM

VALPARAISO — Boone Grove Came out fast and grabbed an early lead as they coasted to a 55-30 Porter County Conference win over rival Hebron on Tuesday.

“We executed well early, jumping out to an early lead, but we didn’t quite shoot the way we can,” Boone Grove coach Matt McKay said. “Our kids settled down and through some foul trouble we were able to get the win.”

Boone Grove rattled off the first five points of the game and never looked back as its patient offensive attack paid dividends early. Junior Jon Hogg led the charge in the first period, scoring seven of Boone Grove’s 16 points.

Boone Grove played solid defense. Hebron struggled from the field all evening long, with good shots going up but not falling through the basket.

Boone Grove’s guard tandem of Dean Hill and Daniel Malouhos were solid on offense and defense. They led the Boone Grove to a 24-11 halftime lead.

With foul trouble to the Wolves’ front line, senior Jordan Jana stepped in and filled the void. He was instrumental in the third quarter, scoring eight of his game-high 12 points to maintain the Wolves’ advantage.

Hebron could not get its offense going, despite having several key moments of a solid defensive attack.

Boone Grove had a balanced scoring attack, with Malouhos and Hogg adding nine points each, and Hill scoring eight.

“It’s frustrating when you stop a team five or six times and can’t seem to score,” Hebron coach John Steinhilber said. “We have to keep plugging away and not feel sorry for ourselves and continue to improve.”
