Teams deal
with rainy week

Rain washed out much of the action in the area this week.

Lake Central was among the teams that didn’t get a chance to play any games.

“It’s been really wacky,” Lake Central coach Jeff Sandor said Saturday. “Fortunately, we were able to get outside and practice twice. It reminds me, we had a little thing like this for a week two years ago. It was the same kind of situation that came up. We missed a bunch of games. It stinks, but we’re going to eventually get to play and when we play, we’ll play every day.”

Sandor said an issue with a drain tile forced a cancellation of Saturday’s game against Valparaiso.

“We were getting on the bus and we were going to play the game and we got that news,” he said.

The Indians have remained focused.

“We haven’t even talked about it,” he said. “We’ve continued with business as usual and we’re kind of laughing about it. At this point, there’s nothing else we can do.”
